Rob’s Ideas

When I was 5 years old the beginning of today’s opioid crisis started (1996). There was a big medical idea that everybody should be on an opioid pain pill for even the tiniest little bit of pain.
Doctors and the government made this mess for us. My dad is a doctor and I even blame him. Why didn’t people in charge see this problem happening? The government owes us young people a fix to this problem.
There is plenty of money currently being spent for people who are opioid dependent. This is more than 1.5 trillion dollars per year. Let’s change the way we treat people who are opioid dependent.

I propose paying doctors lots more money to take care of the opioid dependent people. My dad tells me instead of putting barriers to patients with opioid dependency, doctors will be happy to see these patients.

I propose a new insurance for people in pain. No copays and easy access to doctor visits. This is a WIN-WIN-WIN for patients, doctors, and society.

The families of the opioid dependent people are also suffering. Let’s give the whole family of the opioid habituated access to the new insurance and give them free therapy.

Let’s not forget about the ruined lives from being an opioid habituated person. These people didn’t know they would be habituated when they took a few pills from the medicine cabinet.
I think we should also help the opioid habituated people with some free education and job coaching. My parents (the generation that caused this problem) and I don’t quite agree on this. I think it is the right thing to do and our government can build the plan so that it only helps.
